Computers and sport were the two major fields of interest of Heinz Nixdorf. Sport, especially popular sport, fascinated him as early as his childhood and accompanied him throughout his life. Heinz Nixdorf wanted to pass on this fascination and motivate people to exercise. This objective was pursued with great personal and financial commitment: His close ties to the world of sport were documented by his founding of the Ahorn Sports Park in Paderborn in December 1983, as well as by his wide-ranging support for regional sporting activities.
A large special exhibition »Computer. Sport« is scheduled to open at the HNF in January 2009 to mark the 25-year anniversary of the founding of Ahorn Sportpark GmbH.
